At the Kaiapoi Carnival Mayor David Ayers drew Helen’s lucky entry form from a full box of over 3,000 entries at the Kaiapoi Carnival on 3 December. The news spread quickly across town to where Helen was playing tennis. “I couldn’t believe I had won, I never win anything” said Helen. “I was amazed that I had been picked, I had been checking the weekly winners in the paper just in case I won a weekly prize, I never imagined winning the grand prize!”
Helen a Kaiapoi resident since 2007 plans to stay local despite her property located in the red-zone. “Kaiapoi is my home, I can’t imagine living anywhere else,” Helen said.
